Columbia Community Band
The Columbia Community Band is made up of more than 70 volunteer musicians who perform for the sheer love of music. According to the CCB website, "In the last quarter-century, the CCB has become one f the Midwest's premier symphonic concert bands. Butch Antal, a trumpeter who played with the Henry Mancini Orchestra and other professional bands, formed the CCB in 1981 as a part of the Columbia Public Schools Adult Education Program. Alan Nellis conducted the group from 1986 to 1988, followed by Keith House, who served as music director from 1989 to 2005. The Band's current music director, John Patterson, directed the award-winning Hickman High School Band for over 30 years and is a member of the Missouri Bandmasters Hall of Fame." Keith House is remembered by Fayette residents as the Dean of the Swinney Conservatory of Music at Central Methodist University and a long-time director of the Central Methodist University band. The band has performed at the Fayette Freeze-Off for several years and entertained visitors to Fayette Festival of the Arts in @009 and 2010. www.ccb.coin.org |
